A Cup Without Compromise. Introducing Basilur Artisan Collection.

Sep 17, 2026Basilur Tea

There is a particular kind of tea that asks nothing of you but attention. No blending, no flourishes, no embellishment beyond what the leaf itself provides. Just origin, craft, and time, distilled into a single cup.

That is the idea behind the Basilur Artisan Collection. Six single-estate Ceylon teas, each drawn from a specific garden, a specific altitude, a specific moment in the growing season. Nothing added. Nothing rushed.

What Sets an Artisan Tea Apart

Single-estate tea is a different proposition from a blended one. Every tea in this collection comes from a single selected tea estate, which means the character of that garden, its soil, its climate, the hands that pluck it, comes through in the cup rather than being smoothed into a house style.

What that looks like in practice:

  • One estate, one story each tea is sourced from a single garden, so its character stays intact rather than being blended toward consistency

  • Handpicked at the right momentleaves are often plucked ahead of the monsoon, when flavour is at its most concentrated

  • Small, exacting batchessome teas take up to seven days to process, a slower method that allows flavour to develop fully

  • Origin-true flavour every variety carries a profile shaped entirely by where it was grown, from the citrus brightness of a high-grown black tea to the quiet sweetness of a rose-infused blend

  • Preserved from garden to cup each tea is sealed in a protective foil pouch and presented in Basilur's Artisan caddy, an ornate, gold-toned tin designed to lock in aroma and character until the moment it is brewed

Fitting packaging, in the end, for tea treated as craft rather than commodity.

The Collection

Ceylon Golden Needles

A high-grown, single-estate black tea from Dimbula, Ceylon Golden Needles begins with leaves handpicked and hand-rolled by skilled artisans, then taken through a slow, meticulous drying process designed to protect the leaf's natural antioxidants rather than strip them away. As with every tea in the collection, it is produced in small batches that can take up to seven days to complete, an orthodox whole leaf tea shaped entirely by patience.

Best for: a considered afternoon pause, or anyone drawn to tea in its purest orthodox form.

Ceylon Noble Black Tea

Grown in Nuwara Eliya, Ceylon Noble Black Tea is handpicked just before the monsoon, when the leaf holds its most concentrated flavour. From there, each leaf is hand-rolled and carefully processed to unlock the tea's musky-sweet character, layered with vegetal, fruity, and citrus notes. It is a tea best taken straight, without milk or sweetener, so nothing stands between you and the craftsmanship behind it.

Best for: those who want their tea to reveal itself gradually, sip by sip.

Ceylon Premium White Tea

The most restrained process in the collection produces the most delicate cup. Handpicked in Nuwara Eliya, Ceylon Premium White Tea is oven-dried to perfection with minimal intervention beyond that, no rolling, no oxidation, just the leaf, carefully dried to preserve its natural freshness. What remains is a fresh, faintly floral taste and a pale, yellow-green liquor.

Best for: mornings that call for something gentle, or a first introduction to white tea done properly.

Ceylon Premium Golden Rose

Also from Nuwara Eliya, this single-estate black tea is handpicked and hand-rolled with the same care given to every tea in the Artisan range, then gently infused with rose to develop its signature soft sweetness. The result is a smooth, golden brew with a delicate rosy aroma, tea for moments that deserve a little occasion.

Best for: afternoon tea, or wherever a touch of romance feels appropriate.

Ceylon Amethyst

A rare black tea from Ruhuna, Ceylon Amethyst is handpicked and hand-rolled from 100% pure Ceylon leaf, then processed in the same small, exacting batches that define the Artisan Collection, work that preserves the tea's rich, slightly robust character and flowery aroma. It is a cup for the more discerning palate, one that rewards those who already know what they are looking for in a fine tea.

Best for: connoisseurs, or anyone ready to explore beyond the everyday black tea.

Ceylon Silver Green Needle

An exclusive green tea from Dimbula, Ceylon Silver Green Needle is crafted entirely from tender silver tips, handpicked and processed with a light touch to preserve their natural delicacy. The care taken at every stage is what allows the tea to stay this mellow, resulting in a refreshing cup with a soft yellow-green colour.

Best for: a calm, unhurried moment, whenever that happens to arrive.

Character in Every Cup

Because each tea in the Artisan Collection comes from a single estate and is crafted from young leaves and tender buds, the collection also preserves a naturally higher concentration of polyphenols, the plant antioxidants tea is known for. It is not the reason to choose these teas, but it is a quiet benefit of doing things the traditional way, one cup, one estate, one story at a time.
